Drops of Colour Crochet Coaster Free Pattern
The Drops of colour crochet coaster pattern is bright, cheery and a must for anyone who loves rainbows. Featuring only treble crochet, slip stitch, chain stitches (UK), it's a super easy pattern for both beginners or more experienced crocheters. We'll work in between stitches in order to get the beautiful long lines effect and use bright colours to enhance the pattern. The pattern is written in UK terms, however, if you're in the US, check the pattern notes on how to adapt the pattern to use in US terms.

SKILL LEVEL - EASY
MATERIALS
6 x 10g balls of 100% Mercerized cotton (fine/sport weight) in pink, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. (60g total)
3.5mm hook
Darning needle.
Embroidery scissors.
SUGGESTED YARN
Yarn and Colors Must-have Minis (10g) in: Deep Cerise (034), Cantaloupe (016), Sunglow (013), Peridot (083), Blue Lake (066) and Clematis (057).
FINISHED SIZE
4.5" X 4.5" Square.
STITCH ABBREVIATIONS
ch - chain
tr - treble crochet
rep - repeat
ch sp - chain space
sp - space
slst - slip stitch
PATTERN NOTES
- To work this pattern, we are going to be creating our stitches in between stitches from the previous round, rather than into the tops of stitches. There are photos to give you an idea of where the stitch should go.
- Ch3 always counts as a tr.
- This pattern is in UK Terms. To adapt to US Terms, simply change all tr stitches to dc stitches.
HOW TO MAKE THIS FREE CROCHET COASTER PATTERN
Ch 5. Join to first chain with a slst.
Round 1 – Ch 3(counts as 1tr), 1tr into ring, ch1. *2tr into ring. Ch1.* Rep between * and * 2 more times so that you have 4 sets of 2tr in total. Join to the top of ch3. Round 2 – Slst to first ch1 space. Ch3, 1tr into ch sp. Ch1, 2tr in same sp. *2tr in next ch sp, ch1, 2tr in same sp.* Rep between * and * until end. Join to top of ch 3.
Change to orange yarn.
**From now on, we will work in between stitches rather than the tops of stitches.**
Round 3 - Slst to first ch1 space. Ch3, 1tr into ch sp. Ch1, 2tr in same sp. 1tr in
between the second set of 2tr from previous row, in the middle sp and in the first set
of the next 2tr. *2tr in next ch sp, ch1, 2tr in same sp. 1tr in between the second set
of 2tr from previous row, in the middle sp and in the first set of the next 2tr.* Rep
between * and * until the end. Join to top of ch3.
Change to yellow yarn.
Round 4 - Slst to first ch1 space. Ch3, 1tr into ch sp. Ch1, 2tr in same sp. 1tr in
between the second set of 2tr from previous row, in between the next 4 stitches and
in the first set of the next 2tr. *2tr in next ch sp, ch1, 2tr in same sp. 1tr in between
the second set of 2tr from previous row, in between the next 4 stitches and in the
first set of the next 2tr.* Rep between * and * until the end. Join to top of ch3.
Change to green yarn.
Round 5 - Slst to first ch1 space. Ch3, 1tr into ch sp. Ch1, 2tr in same sp. 1tr in
between the second set of 2tr from previous row, in between the next 7 stitches and
in the first set of the next 2tr. *2tr in next ch sp, ch1, 2tr in same sp. 1tr in between
the second set of 2tr from previous row, in between the next 7 stitches and in the
first set of the next 2tr.* Rep between * and * until the end. Join to top of ch3.
Change to blue yarn.
Round 6 - Slst to first ch1 space. Ch3, 1tr into ch sp. Ch1, 2tr in same sp. 1tr in
between the second set of 2tr from previous row, in between the next 10 stitches
and in the first set of the next 2tr. *2tr in next ch sp, ch1, 2tr in same sp. 1tr in
between the second set of 2tr from previous row, in between the next 10 stitches
and in the first set of the next 2tr.* Rep between * and * until the end. Join to top of
ch3.
Change to purple yarn.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
